“Sherilyn has much experience in hospice and hospital chaplaincy work,” says Gail. “Now, combined with her ordination to the priesthood, Sherilyn will team up with our clergy staff to provide oversight for our pastoral care ministries and sacramental presence to the sick and the suffering. I appreciate her warmth and collegial spirit. She will be a worthy successor to the excellent ministry Susan Lehman has provided during our interim period.”
“I am thrilled to have this opportunity to work at the cathedral,” says Sherilyn. “I have always been impressed with the passion and energy that the people at the cathedral invest in their ministries, guided by their desire to welcome everyone as they would welcome Jesus. I look forward to being a part of that.”
Prior to her ordination to the priesthood in May of 2013 in the Diocese of Rhode Island, Sherilyn Pearce completed an internship at Christ Church Cathedral in the spring of 2012. She is a graduate of Yale Divinity School. She lives in downtown Cincinnati with her partner, the Rev. Scott Gunn, the executive director of Forward Movement.
As Canon Pastor, Sherilyn will tend to the cathedral’s pastoral needs and be responsible for recruiting, training and supervising a lay pastoral care ministry at the cathedral.
