Cathedral Choir of Children and Youth

2020 Music Camp

While singers are encouraged to join at the beginning of the year, recruitment for CCCY singers is ongoing.

Cathedral Choir of Children and Youth

Spread the word! Christ Church Cathedral’s Choir of Children and Youth (CCCY) has a full season planned, though with changes from years past. As with much in this time of a pandemic, CCCY is going virtual.

Christopher Wheeler, director of the CCCY and the cathedral’s associate musician for children and youth, took the cathedral music camp online this summer. The format proved to be successful, and is being used for the CCCY in the coming year.

Watch the fantastic work of our music campers this past summer. CCCY will still be making music in a similar manner, providing a fun and engaging musical education for its participants, albeit distantly via online meetings and voice lessons.

The season has successfully begun and is continuing to meet virtually every Wednesday, as children learn music and about the elements of music and their place in the liturgy of the church through our music curriculum.

The choir is also planning to prepare recordings and videos for use in worship, while producing other videos just for fun.

CCCY enrollment remains open to singers from throughout the area. There is no fee to participate. Along with our group meetings, every participant gets a voice lesson with the director each week.

More About the CCCY
The Cathedral Choir of Children and Youth (CCCY) is a city-wide choir program that fosters a lifelong enjoyment and appreciation of music through the singing of sacred choral compositions. The program, which is based on the Royal School of Church Music (RSCM) Voice for Life curriculum, is open to children and youth age 6 to 13. No prior music experience is required. Choristers have the opportunity to develop musical confidence, make new friends and experience music education and faith formation.
