Fair Housing Assessment
A just released report, “Fair Housing Assessment,” confirms that Greater Cincinnati confronts a major affordable housing crisis.
Researched and written for the city of Cincinnati and Hamilton County by Xavier University’s Community Building Institute, this assessment is required every five years from local governments that receive funding from the Department of Housing and Urban Development.
The report provides a comprehensive view of Greater Cincinnati’s housing patterns that are causing the affordable housing crisis. Factors that led to the lack of affordable housing in Cincinnati and Hamilton County also make the region highly segregated racially.
Offering some major recommendations, the report contends governments and institutions in the region will have to change how they address “long term socioeconomic issues.”
Liz Blume, director of the Community Building Institute and the principal author of the report, will review the assessment’s findings and recommendations.
