The Metro Bus System Levy
At this Community Issues Form, Pete Metz, manager of transportation initiatives for the Cincinnati Regional Chamber of Commerce, makes the case for the passage of the proposed transit levy that is on March 17 ballot.
A consensus exists that the current bus system administered by SORTA is inadequate. In recent years, fares have increased, services have been cut, and ridership has dropped. The proposed levy is a sales tax that would raise $100 million a year to improve services, including better access to locations in Hamilton County. Revenue from this levy would replace a city earnings tax that presently funds bus services.
