Homelessness in 2019: An Update
by Josh Spring, executive director, The Greater Cincinnati Homeless Coalition
U.S. Census data and other local research supply evidence that poverty and homelessness have grown worse in recent years in Greater Cincinnati. This trend occurs even while several local anti-poverty initiatives have been launched. According to a report released by the Local Initiatives Support Corporation (LISC), Greater Cincinnati has an affordable housing gap of 40,000 units.
In this forum, Josh Spring reviews the realities of this dismal news and outlines the current situation for families and individuals who are homeless, while reviewing potential policies and reforms that are needed to turn things around.
As usual, time will be set aside for questions and comments from the audience.
This forum was originally scheduled for January 31. It was postponed because of severe cold temperatures.
Community Issues Forums are held September through May, generally on a bi-weekly basis. They are free and open to all. Learn more.
