Summer Reading Camp
June 25 @ 8:00 am - 1:30 pm
Help a Child to Read
Book Donations & Volunteers Needed!
Summer Reading Camp means another summer of children happy to be at the cathedral. Third and fourth graders struggling to read attend the camp to play literacy games, listen to the book of the day, make crafts, and work one-on-one with a certified reading tutor. They also get to enjoy a tasty and nutritious breakfast and lunch –– all at no cost to the campers.
The Summer Reading Camp has a proven track record of helping children improve their comprehension and reading fluency, while fostering a love of books.
Because the campers thrive with individualized attention, volunteers are needed to read to the children or help them with their work.
Book donations are also needed and may be left at the front desk. The books will be added to the collection from which campers may choose, once a week, one book to keep as their own. Often these books are the only books in the camper’s home.
