Noon Service

Worship With
Spiritual Vitality

Desiring to connect with a faith community that is exploring what it means to be a follower of Jesus? Try the Noon Service this Sunday. Rooted in the beauty and simplicity of the Episcopal tradition, this hour-long worship gathering combines prayer, silence, music, scripture, and discussion. Together, we:

All are welcome at Christ's communion table

Just as God wants to enter into our lives and meet us where we are, so God desires for us to enter into God’s space, together, and be present there.

After service we share a meal together, enjoying conversations and community. People who have participated in worship have commented on the sense of intimacy and community, the richness of conversation, and the sense of reverence and playfulness – people have found their faith strengthened for the journey and a new understanding of what it means to be a Christian.

Noon Service Inclusivity Statement

Welcome to the Noon Service! We’re a community that invites people to join us in seeking God. There are a few shared practices that are important to us:

Jesus’ ministry invited people from all walks of life, and we strive to do the same. You are welcome and celebrated here exactly as you are—bringing your faith, race, class, sexuality, gender identity, nationality, life experiences, abilities, age, personal history and all the qualities that make you who you are. It is important in this community to treat everyone the way they want to be treated. If there is an accommodation that would help you experience the service more comfortably, please let us know by contacting Kirsten Marron at kmarron@cccath.org. More information on LGBTQ+ inclusion at the Cathedral can be found here.

Jesus showed love, healing, and reconciliation in different ways to each of his followers, and we strive to do the same. Practices that some might find comforting might inspire discomfort in others. For that reason, everything at the Noon Service is an invitation—if you don’t feel comfortable with a part of it, you can always step away, no explanation required. Concerns brought to leadership will be heard without judgment and considered seriously.

Jesus called people of every kind to serve God through the gifts they were given, and we strive to do the same. We believe everyone has wisdom and gifts from God worth sharing, whether it’s friendship, unique perspective, prayer, volunteering, financial support, or something else. In God’s eyes there are no small gifts. The Noon Service is collaborative and participatory. If you want to be a more active part of this community, we welcome you—and we welcome you to contribute in the way that you uniquely can.

Frequently Asked Questions:

How do I find the Noon Service?

The Noon Service meets at 12:00 pm in the Centennial Chapel at Christ Church Cathedral. You can find the main entrance to the Chapel on Sycamore St. Enter up the ramp through Sycamore Commons (to the left as you are looking at the Cathedral’s main entrance). This entrance is wheelchair accessible. You can also enter through the Cathedral’s 4th St. doors and proceed straight ahead to the stairs and elevator that lead up to the Chapel.

Where should I park?

When there is not an early afternoon Reds game, street parking is usually readily available on Sycamore St. between 3rd St. and 5th St.,  4th Street between Pike St. and Sycamore St., and Broadway between 3rd St. and 5th St. On-street parking is free until 2:00 pm. Alternately, Queen City Square parking garage is located directly across from the Cathedral’s 4th St. entrance.

Can I bring my kids?

Children of all ages are welcome to participate in the Noon Service. There are also children’s books and a children’s table with coloring supplies in the back of the chapel, across from the door. Another option is our Children’s Room, which provides caring staff and a safe space for open play during the service. Turn left out of the chapel, go down the hallway, take either the stairs or the elevator down to the first floor, and turn right.

What efforts has the Noon Service made towards accessibility?

The ramp to Centennial Chapel through Sycamore Commons (to the left as you are looking at the Cathedral’s main entrance) is stroller/wheelchair accessible. There is elevator access to the rest of the building from the Chapel area. An ASL interpreter joins us every week, and we use microphones for our discussions. Printed service leaflets are available to follow along with many spoken parts of the service. Gender neutral wheelchair accessible restrooms, including one with a changing table, are located in the hallway directly outside the Chapel.

There are several sensory-friendly spaces available to take breaks if needed (see below). The Communion Bread that we share is vegan and gluten-free. We are always looking to make participation in the community easier, so if there is an accommodation that would help you experience the service more comfortably, please let us know by contacting Kirsten Marron at kmarron@cccath.org.

Are there any sensory-friendly spaces available?

Looking for a quiet space to step away? When the weather is nice, Sycamore Commons (outside the Chapel entrance) can be a peaceful spot. If you are looking for a more private location, the outdoor Columbarium can be accessed by turning left as you exit the chapel, walking down the hall past the stairs, turning right, and going up the short flight of stairs or taking the elevator to the Chapel Upper Level. If you are looking for a quiet indoor location with low light, there is a small prayer space next to the Columbarium.

Can I bring food or drinks?

You are welcome to bring food and drinks into the Chapel space. Water and coffee are usually available on the table directly outside the Chapel. There is also a drinking fountain located at the end of the hall across from the elevator. Turn left out of the chapel, continue past the restrooms, and take another left. Most weeks, we gather after the service for a community lunch in the library on the main floor of the Cathedral. Turn left out of the chapel, go down the hallway, take either the stairs or the elevator down to the first floor, and turn left until you get to the library (past the swan window).
