Sunday Services

Welcome to Christ Church Cathedral

Everyone is welcome at Christ Church Cathedral. We believe God loves all people - no exceptions! Whether you are looking for a church community, visiting from out of town, or just curious about what the Cathedral offers, know that you are always welcome here.

Christ Church Cathedral is a cathedral for the city with a heart of a parish. Serving as the Cathedral for the Episcopal Southern Diocese of Ohio,  we also offer spiritual formation, community, children's ministry, youth ministry, and outreach opportunities for those who call Christ Church Cathedral their church home. We hope you experience the love of God in our community and services.

Living Out the Way of Love Through Worship

When we worship, we gather with in community to thank, praise, and dwell with God. We hear the Good News of Jesus Christ, give thanks, confess, and offer the brokenness of the world to God. As we break bread, our eyes are opened to the presence of Christ. By the power of the Holy Spirit, we are made one body, the body of Christ sent forth to live the Way of Love.

Just as God wants to enter into our lives and meet us where we are, so God desires for us to enter into God’s space, together, and be present there.

Services at Christ Church Cathedral

Sundays: 8am, 10am and 12pm
Fridays: 12:10pm

Sundays, we gather to break bread, hear Scripture, and be equipped as followers of Jesus. Each service at Christ Church Cathedral reflects the diversity of our multi-generational community through music and worship. Whether you find God in the traditional language of our quiet 8am service, in the beauty, exuberant pageantry and choral music of our 10am service, or in the intimate fresh expressions of our 12pm service, we invite you to worship at Christ Church Cathedral.

Sunday at 8am

Quiet & Traditional Episcopal Liturgy
in the Centennial Chapel
The 8am service is a quiet & traditional Episcopal service held in the Centennial Chapel. A shorter service is provided with Holy Communion, and participants enjoy beautiful music played on the new organ.  Join our faithful 8am attendees after service and enjoy fellowship, coffee, and donuts during community coffee hour.

Sunday at 10am

Full Liturgy with Choral Music
in the Nave
At the 10am service you will experience a full liturgy from the Anglican cathedral tradition, and our congregational choir and musical instruments give voice to emotions ranging from exuberant praise to deep lament. Dean Owen Thompson preaches and leads the liturgy most often. After service, we welcome all to fellowship and connect with coffee, donuts, and snack provided during community coffee hour. Sign language interpretation is also offered at this service.

Sunday at 12pm

Modern Liturgical Expression & Acoustic Music in the Centennial Chapel
At the Noon Service,  you will experience a community desiring to explore, embody and discuss the deeper things of God. Our worship is expressed through the arts, acoustic, folk-style music, call and response liturgy, and facilitated questions and discussion. Youth and children are intentionally included in all aspects of this service. Afterward, we’d love for you to join us for a community lunch.

For Children & Youth

The nursery (birth - 6 years) is open during the 10am & 12pm Sunday services, providing a nurturing Waldorf-style classroom, fresh-baked bread, and tea time.

At the 10am service, we offer families activity bags for children to complete during the service that corresponds with the liturgy and season. The bags can be found at the back of the nave, or please ask our ushers and they can provide one for you.

During the 12pm service, we provide activities in the children's corner every week which directly correspond with the readings of the day. In this multi-generational service, youth and children are encouraged to participate in worship with their family, friends, and loved ones, as well.  If a nursery setting makes more sense for your family, know the nursery team is ready to serve your children.

We also offer spiritual formation classes for students 4th - 12th grade in between services.
