The Native American Ministry Council is once again preparing to encourage awareness and observance of Orange Shirt Day. While the nationwide day remains Sept 30, we are hoping to have a sea of orange in the pews on Sunday Sept 27.
The annual Orange Shirt Day on September 30 opens the door to global conversation on all aspects of Native American Boarding Schools. It is an opportunity to create meaningful discussion about the effects of Native American Boarding Schools and the legacy they have left behind.
The date was chosen because it is the time of year in which children were taken from their homes to boarding schools, and because it is an opportunity to set the stage for anti-racism and anti-bullying policies for the coming school year.
Shirts are now available to purchase in Soul Goods Gift Shop for $25.
